Aahhhh………Barcelona was such a beautiful city. I can’t stop thinking about its iconic landmarks, refreshing sangria, vibrant nightlife, big computers in churches and not to forget paella workshops! It really makes you realise how much passion and dedication there was from the Travel Committee (TraC) in organising this trip. They prepared and managed the trip so incredibly well! Think about it, there was no activity for which we were too late as a collective group, which is quite an accomplishment in itself but that does not even recognise the variety of activities provided by the TraC. From university visits to pubcrawls, from city tours to musea, there was something for everyone!

Because of Barcelona’s great success story, instead of keeping the TraC once every two years, the TraC will start organising a trip next year as well. Concretely, this means the TraC is looking for new members to start working on next year’s trip. The trip will be of a different format than this year, as it will be shorter and not a study trip. Here are a few pieces from current TraC members about their experiences before and during the Barcelona trip, such that you can get a better idea of what it entails to be a TraC member:
~Simon Stonks:
Preparing a trip taught me how many things you need to think of, but it's also really satisfying when everything comes together the way you planned. I was responsible for arranging the formal activities, and reaching out to universities and companies turned out to be fun, though also challenging at times. I also rediscovered how much fun it is to plan something as a team, everyone had their own tasks and it just worked well together.
When we were choosing the destination, Barcelona was one of my options, so I was really happy when it won the vote. During the trip itself, managing such a large group came with some responsibilities, but it also gave me a lot of energy, and honestly I loved it.
Hopefully see you next year in the committee :)
~Meike Ebbinkhuijsen:
I joined the TraC because I wanted to put together one big event that we as a committee could work towards. It really felt great when the trip finally started! I was afraid I would be too busy with committee stuff during the trip, but I was very wrong because I could enjoy the hell out of Barcelona with all the prep we did prior :D It’s such a unique experience to put together a trip of a bigger size for a lot of people. I definitely recommend joining!
So if you feel inspired by the TraC members' experiences and are still enthusiastic about the Barcelona trip, you might want to get more involved in the organisation. Three spots have opened up right now, so definitely consider joining the TraC for next year! You will not regret it :). Send an email to intern@svcognac.nl with your application.
