Committees

Activities Committee (10 members)

The Activities Committee (AC) is in charge of organising fun activities, which makes it an indispensible part of CognAC. These activities include parties, games nights, the audio/video master events, and the Sinterklaas activity.

First Years Committee (33 members)

The First-Years’ Committee (1C) is a committee that helps familiarise first-year students with CognAC. They organise some really nice activities (like laser tag) with support from more senior students when necessary.

Sports Committee (8 members)

The Sports Committee (SpoC) arranges all of CognAC’s sports-related activities, like the Batavierenrace (Nijmegen’s huge student relay), but also swimming, skating, etc.

Books Committee (0 members)

Twice per year, the Books Committee (BC) works with the treasurer to make sure that textbooks are supplied for our members.

External Committee (9 members)

The External Committee (XC) is responsible for maintaining relations with businesses and other contacts in the big, bad world. This committee also works with the external officer to solicit external sponsorships.

DAtA (10 members)

DAtA stands for Drinks Committee: Alcohol to Apple juice. They organise a monthly themed get-together in the Olympus noordkantine (north canteen).

Orientation Committee (8 members)

The Orientation Committee (OrC) organises the annual orientation for incoming AI students. They ensure that all first-year students get a fantastic introduction to the student life.

Audit Committee (5 members)

The Audit Committee (KasCo) is here to dot the i's and cross the t's. Around four times each year, they check the cashbox to make sure the board is properly carrying out its work. Each year, this committee is formed during the board changeover general meeting.

Media Committee (10 members)

The Media Committee (MC) promotes all the CognAC activities, creates a yearbook, and maintains the CogBlog, which is full of great columns.

Study Committee (12 members)

The Study Committee (SC) regularly arranges study sessions for courses that students need extra help in. They are also in charge of maintaining the study materials on the website. Finally, this committee organises the movie nights, when they screen films related to artificial intelligence.

Symposium Committee (12 members)

Since 2007, the Symposium Committee (SymCo) has organised the Annual CognAC Artificial Intelligence Symposium. Members of this committee keep themselves busy devising a fun and interesting theme and finding suitable speakers to recruit.

OKKI (0 members)

OKKI oversees the publication of the biannual OnderwijsKrant Kunstmatige Intelligentie (AI Education Newspaper). This contains course evaluations, which offer members some insight into the different courses, along with programme-related features such as interviews with people from the programme and interesting activities.

Website Committee (4 members)

The Website Committee (WebC) is the greatest and most fun committee in CognAC, and is responsible for the upkeep of the website. Have you noticed a mistake on the website by chance, or is something missing? Please e-mail your feedback to wc@svcognac.nl.

Weekend Committee (10 members)

The Weekend Committee (WkC) focuses on organising a fun CognAC weekend that takes place at the beginning of the academic year.

Sweden Committee (8 members)

Every year, the Sweden Committee (SweC) takes care of communication with our sister association in Sweden. One year, the Sweden Committee members plan the CognAC trip to Sweden, while every other year, they plan a fun programme of activities for the Swedes who come visit us in the Netherlands.

Paparazzi Committee (12 members)

he VLC (PaparaC) captures CognAC activities through photos and videos. They also record AI programme activities such as the robotics demo day.

Travel Committee (6 members)

The Travel Committee (TraC) organises an international trip every two years.

Food Committee (10 members)

As a subcommittee of the AC, the Food Committee (FC) organises a number of breakfasts each year.

Lustrumcommissie (0 members)

Every five year, CognAC celebrates a lustrum. The committee (LC) organizes an anniversary celebration week full of festive activities.

League of Legends Committee (13 members)

The League of Legends Committee (LoLCo) organises the annual CognAC League of Legends tournament in the Huygens Building canteen, when 32 teams from across the university battle for the coveted cup.

Master Committee (6 members)

The Master’s Committee (MaC) organises activities especially for Master’s students, although Bachelor’s students are also welcome to attend.

Monopoly Committee (0 members)

Every year, the Live Monopoly Committee (LMC) organises a live monopoly activity, which takes place on Good Friday. Teams of 4-6 students must visit streets across the Netherlands while completing all sorts of tasks.

Discussion Committee (8 members)

The Discussion Committee organizes series of discussion evenings. During these evenings, a topic related to AI is explained and then discussed. Sometimes even a guest speaker like Bart Jacobs explains the topic.

Ski Committee (0 members)

The Ski Committee organizes the ski trip of CognAC.

Statutes Committee (0 members)

The Statutes Committee makes sure that our statutes will be changed with care.

Parents day Committee (8 members)

The Parents day Committee organizes the annual Partens Day. On this day, the parents of AI students can get to know our study programme, the university, and CognAC.

Party&Co (8 members)

The Party Committee is concerned with organising all collaborated parties: Proud 2B Faudt, Rainbow Party, Gala, S-Feest, Pitcher Party. Also the Party Committee organises the CognAC Open Party!
